We all know how hard it can be to eat out with kids. Luckily, Tooting (and the surrounding area) is full of wonderful childfriendly cafes, restaurants and coffee shops. A family-run restaurant in Tooting, minutes from Tooting Broadway Station, showcasing the Northern Italian food and heritage of the owner and head chef Abramo Zingaro. Antipasti, pizza, pasta, mains and desserts, Aubergine is the perfect place to enjoy delicious food.
A softplay centre where children can walk the plank into ‘shark-infested’ ball pits or ‘sail the seven seas’ and dig for ancient buried treasure, as well as join the daily teddybears’ picnic. Bertie and Boo play specialists are on hand for weekly story time with puppets, balloons or song and dance sessions. Great for birthday parties too.
Quirky, fun, family-friendly restaurant that serves great food for all ages. With an adjoining play room that is a safe, monitored environment where children can run around and have fun in whilst mums and dads take a little time to themselves, meet friends or family for coffee or lunch and are able to relax and enjoy good food and good company without worrying about their little ones. Caters mostly for under 5s. Under 24 months must be supervised by an adult.
Childsplay Brasserie is new to Tooting (March 2019). Childsplay aims to provide both a relaxing environment for adults with fun things for kids to do too. There’s spa treatments, mani/pedis, hair salon and make overs on offer for grown ups and classes and softplay for kids with an outdoor area and treehouses. You can purchase an annual pass which allows you to attend the kids classes for free or sign up for classes as an when you want through the website.
Award winning local coffee shop. Friendly, family run and always extremely welcoming of children (they know all the regulars by name) this is a great place to grab a coffee, a babyccino and a delicious slice of cake. They also do great sandwiches and toasties for adults and kids. There’s a box of books for kids to read and a Fairy Garden in one of the flower pots!
Whether you fancy breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea, Dee Light is a great place for kids. Everything is baked in house and they serve delicious coffee too! Or you can even have a beer or glass of wine if you fancy. There’s a family friendly, children’s play area which allows you to relax while your kids play happily. Dee Light also offer brilliant make and create parties from age 4.
If you’re looking for somewhere childfriendly in Tooting Market then Franco Manca is a great choice. Delicious sourdough pizzas and a £5 kids menu – you can’t really go wrong.
A unique and childfriendly all-day community café and bar serving great coffee, craft beer, cocktails and food. They do a great brunch and kids food. Baby change is also on the ground floor! Graveney and Meadow host kids classes on Wednesdays and Fridays (check out our calendar). Loads of space for buggies and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Childfriendly pub running baby and toddler classes on weekdays (see our calendar for details). Also screens daily childfriendly films in their brilliant cinema room. Great food, relaxed atmosphere and good upstairs space available for private functions. A great place for a family Sunday roast.
Super friendly local cafe owned and run by Zaf. A great place to go with kids. It’s small but Zaf will do his best to accommodate babies, kids, buggies.
Tartine have three cafes serving fresh, handmade, great tasting, quality food. Their largest cafe is right by Tooting Bec Station. Friendly, relaxed and childfriendly, the Tooting Bec branch has tonnes of space for buggies. A great place for brunch or even just a coffee and a croissant. They also specialise in North Africa/Mediterranean inspired dishes.
The Castle is a great place to meet if you’re a group with buggies or young children. Lots of space, friendly staff and a great menu – they also have a fantastic outdoor space for when the weather’s good. It’s conveniently located too – being a short walk from Tooting Broadway so great if you’re meeting people coming from further afar.
A fantastic cafe, pizza restaurant and place to hang out, The Dynamo has plenty of space for buggies and are very childfriendly. They’re open most days from 7.30am in the morning, until 11pm at night. In the mornings you’ll find great coffee and awesome breakfasts, then in the evening and at lunch they serve wonderful wood-fired, sourdough pizzas, small plates, healthy salads. They also serve alcohol.
Perfectly situated for a post common pizza, The Rose and Crown is a friendly pub allowing children up until 7pm each day. They do a kids meal deal and fab adult pizzas too. Friendly staff and a relaxed atmosphere. Plenty of highchairs and space for buggies.
Friendly pub with great food for both adults and kids. Helpful and accommodating staff, it’s a great place to take the kids. There’s lots of space for buggies and an outdoor area for little ones to play when the weather’s good. They have downstairs baby change. It’s fab for a Sunday roast!
Tooting Bec Common Cafe caters for all tastes and serves a full range of hot and cold drinks including coffee, handmade cakes, and daily specials made on the premises. Great for a bacon roll on cold winters morning or a traditional scoop ice cream on a blazing hot summer’s day! Open every day, all year round (except for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day). During the summer, they are open 9:00-18:00 and in winter from 9:00-16:30 (or dusk whichever is earlier). The kitchen closes 30 minutes before these times.
